Cotterill set for Deepdale

North End parted company with their manager Paul Simpson earlier this week and are, like Burnley, hoping to appoint a new manager before the next league games a week on Saturday.

Chairman Derek Shaw was initially reported to have encouraged Cotterill to apply for the job but he's now refusing to name names but it is thought he is a big admirer of Cotterill and the work he did with the Clarets over the past three seasons and more.

Cotterill himself has not ruled out such a move and said: "For an out of work manager any attractive proposition job-wise is of interest to me. Preston North End is a very attractive proposition and it is a superb football club."

Any move for Cotterill would mean Preston not having to make approaches to other clubs and he would be available to take over immediately. Who knows, we may just be coming face to face with our former boss in just a months time.
