Cotterill hits out at Irish television

The commentator reported that he'd asked Kyle when he was going to Fulham and Kyle responded with, "I'm not, I'm Burnley through and through." That's positive enough but Cotterill is far from happy at what he was asked.

"I don't take very kindly to the commentator saying he bumped into Kyle and asked when he was going to Fulham. It is rubbish that he is saying that to him, and rubbish that he is saying it on air. I also think it is being very disrespectful to Burnley, assuming it is only a matter of time before he joins them. When that happens it just makes you want to dig your heels in even more."

We've turned down offers for Kyle from Celtic, Wolves and Fulham and Steve added: "Kyle is not for sale. We haven't put anybody up for sale and if we wanted to we would put them on the transfer list. It is all relevant to fees and every player has his price, but Kyle listens to me and trusts me and we do not want to sell him.

"I would rather Kyle be a better player than he is now when he does leave here. His strengths are his athleticism, which is better than it was last year. He is stronger, he has great feet and can shoot, but there are other elements of his game that he needs to work on.

"He doesn't score as often as he should and that is something he can learn from David Healy. As regards the other attributes, he is as good as Healy, but he is just not as good a goalscorer."
