Cotterill enjoys the World Cup

Jung Hwan Ahn - Steve Cotterill saw him score the winner for South Korea
He was in Kaiserslautern on Monday to watch Australia score three times in the last six minutes to beat Japan and on the following day saw South Korea come from behind to beat Togo in Frankfurt. He went out to watch some of the lesser nations in the hope of spotting potential signings for the Clarets and was certainly not disappointed with what he saw, particularly from the South Koreans.

“There would be a few players I would love to bring back but we will have to wait and see what they are up to, which clubs they are at and see what the finances would be,” he said on returning to England.

“There would be three or four players I think who would be good for us, and would be good for English football,” he added as he admitted he had enjoyed the whole World Cup experience.

“I don't think you ever get a true picture from the television of just what it is like to be out there,” he claimed. “I think you have to be there to experience it. You get to see more of the game, in terms of how teams play and what players do, and it has been an incredible experience, I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

“Both games were terrific, and I thought South Korea were excellent. Everything about it, the football and the fans has been brilliant.”

Time will tell whether his trip has been productive or not, we might just have a South Korean or an Australian in the squad next season.
