Cotterill and West Brom

That doesn't mean it isn't going to happen and our local media are reporting that is exactly what is likely to happen with Chairman Barry Kilby apparently bracing himself for an approach from his West Brom counterpart Jeremy Peace who is looking for a replacement for Bryan Robson.

Steve was named favourite for the role almost immediately and today nothing has changed, he's still sat there with the bookmakers as favourite, and with some the odds have even shortened from those a couple of weeks ago.

It's created debate amongst Burnley fans wondering whether he will go or not but one thing for sure is that Steve Cotterill will be our manager when we take on Norwich this Sunday and before that game he'll almost certainly be asked to comment on the West Brom position by the Sky team who are covering the game.

Will he stay or will he go? Firstly, if West Brom don't come looking for him, or if they decide not to offer him the job then he'll be staying, and staying at a club where he enjoys working. But should they offer him the job then our ambitious manager has a decision to make. As much as he enjoys working for the Clarets the simple fact is that West Brom are bigger and have more potential than us and he will hardly be hit with the sort of financial restrictions he faces at Burnley, restrictions that have forced him more than once to sell one of his players.

I'm sure most of us want him to stay, we've seen the good work he's done since he became our manager in the summer of 2004, but for now we must continue the wait. Either way, the sooner West Brom get their fingers out and appoint a new manager the better it will be for all concerned, at least we'll know where we stand then.

So let's hope Tony Mowbray really impresses them when he's interviewed and he decides to return to English football.
