Cort could be first to go

Leon Cort
Cort joined North End on a month's loan on 25th November and although nothing has been confirmed by either club it is believed that the loan has been extended by a month to allow him to remain at Deepdale.

He's been in good form with Preston conceding just one goal in the three games he's played and it is thought that the deal could become a permanent one during January with Darren Ferguson keen to strengthen his defence on a permanent basis.

Cort joined the Clarets last January and was Brian Laws' first permanent signings. With Steven Caldwell and Clarke Carlisle both out injured and Andre Bikey away at the African Cup of Nations he moved quickly to secure the services of the player who had done so well for Stoke during their promotion.

He played regularly during the remainder of our Premier League season but this season has featured in just four games. He came on for the injured Bikey at Millwall and played in the following three games, getting a red card in the last of them against Reading.
