Cork stars close to home

Jack Cork
Cork was the winner of both the man of the match vote and the player ratings and both were fully deserved after he dropped into the Graham Alexander role with Dean Marney coming back into the side.

He polled 36.2% of the man of the match vote with Chris Eagles taking second place with 27.5%. Jay Rodriguez, who came on for the injured Ross Wallace on 21 minutes, came third with 14.4% of the vote.

I was astonished that Andre Bikey, who for me was another who came close to having his best ever game in Burnley colours, didn't make the top three, but he certainly did in the player ratings.

Again Cork was the winner with a rating of 8.88 out of 10 and Bikey wasn't too far behind him. Bikey's rating was 8.63 and both of them beat the previous best this season which was Bikey's 8.45 in the opening day win against Nottingham Forest. Eagles took third place, and his rating was 7.75 out of 10.

That gives Cork six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Other points awarded are three to Eagles two to Bikey and one to Rodriguez. Those points have extended Bikey's lead at the top to 18 points with Eagles now in joint second place with Iwelumo and Cork up to fourth.

Voting continues for the man of the match following our Carling Cup win against Bolton. The voting poll, which ends at the end of Friday, is on the front page of the site.
