England have got their European campaign off to a flying start with a 4-0 win against Bulgaria at Wembley, in which former loan player Gary Cahill made his debut as a substitute, but it was earlier this evening that we saw a Burnley player on the pitch in England colours.

Cork was the only Burnley player to see international action tonight. With Chris Iwelumo ruled out of the Scotland side it was all eyes on Northern Ireland's game in Slovenia. Martin Paterson was named as a substitute with David Healy and Warren Feeney preferred by Nigel Worthington.
When Healy was substituted with 23 minutes to go his replacement was former Burnley player Kyle Lafferty, winning his 24th cap. Paterson had to settle for a watching brief throughout as the Irish won 1-0 in Maribor with a goal from Manchester United's Corry Evans.
