The Under-21s played a vital game against Portugal in Barcelos and won the game 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge. Cork was named as a substitute and got on the pitch with six minutes of normal time remaining, replacing Danny Welbeck who is currently on loan at Sunderland from Manchester United.

Cork was the only Burnley player to see international action tonight. With Chris Iwelumo ruled out of the Scotland side it was all eyes on Northern Ireland's game in Slovenia. Martin Paterson was named as a substitute with David Healy and Warren Feeney preferred by Nigel Worthington.

When Healy was substituted with 23 minutes to go his replacement was former Burnley player Kyle Lafferty, winning his 24th cap. Paterson had to settle for a watching brief throughout as the Irish won 1-0 in Maribor with a goal from Manchester United's Corry Evans.
