Eagles was the man of the match winner for the third time in the last five games. He won it this time with a 34.7% share of the vote with Cork coming in second having taken 20.5%. Jay Rodriguez, who scored the third goal, and his third of the season, came in third with 13.7% of the vote.
It was roles reversed with the player ratings with Cork coming out on top with a rating of 7.50 out of 10, but right behind was Eagles and midfielder Dean Marney who were in joint second place with both having a rating of 7.33 out of 10.
Both Cork and Eagles, therefore, win five points from this game towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year, with two points for Marney and one for Rodriguez.
Eagles was no less than 19 points behind Bikey after the away game against Middlesbrough but since he has continued to claw back that deficit and has now, with these points, gone clear at the top. What was beginning to look like a one horse race a few weeks ago has very definitely changed now with three players certainly now very close and themselves well clear of the rest.
Voting currently continues for the man of the match from the 3-0 win against Barnsley. That voting ends at the end of Friday with the Reading man of the match poll starting on Saturday evening.
