Come On You Clarets

It is a new era at Turf Moor – after six years we have a new manager and with him a new backroom team and five new players. The Stan Ternent era is over, we have said our thanks to Stan for his contribution and I’m certain he himself would now ask us to get behind the new man.

There are no guarantees, other than the fact that we will definitely win some games this season, we’ll draw some and we’ll lose some. All we can do is hope the players will give of their best every time they are out there in the Claret & Blue shirt.

We will demand that they give us 100% commitment no matter how well or badly they might be playing and in return we have to give the same back. We have to get behind the lads from the minute that first whistle blows this afternoon.

We know what a difference we can make, remember that amazing support during those vital away wins at Bradford and Walsall towards the end of last season, and of course the home win against Derby when the atmosphere in the Turf was a reminder of yesteryear.

There’ll be setbacks and we’ll have our moans on the way home after some games, that’s fine but for each of those 90 minutes we have to give the same 100% commitment we demand from the players.

We can start today by creating a superb atmosphere at the Turf, and I don’t mean tacky goal music, cheerleaders, warm up man or mascots but real atmosphere created by real football supporters. We did it last season when it was needed, let’s do it right from the off today and if I may just go back and steal a phrase, let’s crack on and see where it takes us.

Come on you Clarets
