Cole takes Colchester honours

There was no doubt in the man of the match vote. He won that by some distance with 51.6% of the vote to take the maximum points. In second place, but a long way behind, was Jon Harley who claimed 13.4% of the vote whilst 7.6% was enough to give Wade Elliott third place.

It was the same top two in the player ratings on the message board. Cole came out first with a rating of 6.71 out of 10 whilst Jon Harley was again second with a rating of 6.46. Goalkeeper Brian Jensen, who was beaten just once from a deflected free kick, took third place with a rating of 6.31 out of 10 to claim the final point.

Obviously these are Cole's first points but I suspect he could be getting more in the next few days once the points are allocated for the QPR game. It is likely that he'll win both even more convincingly than he did this time.

For Jon Harley, his four points have now taken him into the top six. That's remarkable for a player who had been out of the side until Stephen Jordan had to move into centre half at Leicester and was then subsequently injured. Since coming back in he's probably played better for us than at any time since he signed from Sheffield United back in August 2005.

There's been no change up at the top, but Wade Elliott was able to stretch his lead by one point to twelve. It would take a big turnaround now to keep him out of the top two at the end of the season.
