Cole calls it a day

Andrew Cole
The 37-year-old Cole started out with Arsenal and has gone on to play for twelve clubs, making his mark as a top striker with Newcastle and Manchester United in the 1990s.

He was with the Clarets on loan in the second half of last season, scoring six goals in thirteen appearances but turned down the offer of a contract with us in the summer and moved to his home town club Nottingham Forest.

Things didn't work out at the City Ground and he failed to find the net for them, meaning his goal against Cardiff in his last Burnley game proved to be his last goal in professional football. His appearance for Forest in their home draw against Ipswich in October was his last appearance.

There have already been suggestions of a possible coaching role at one of his former clubs Blackburn, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
