The good news is that were are OK for now – just about – but the bad news is that we are nowhere near out of the wood and are still facing a difficult future.

But the good news for now is that Burnley Football Club will just about manage to remain in business until the end of the season.

The magnificent response of the fans and friends of the Club and the FA Cup run has meant that the financial cash hole of £500,000 that would hit the Club this month has been alleviated for the time being.

Chief Executive Dave Edmundson said today: "The ABC survival strategy has had a wonderful effect. There has been a rallying round by everyone and although the first battle has been won, we still have a long way to go.

"In fact we probably need more effort, because the early momentum has now passed, so if we are to reach our goal - securing the long term future of the Club - we have a great deal to do.

"Over £100,000 has been received towards the 500 Mile Club, we have had many donations from supporters all over the world and of course we have had the collection boxes at the matches.

"We've reached a bridgehead thanks to our magnificent fans, but really we've only just begun. The reality is that we will still face a short fall next season unless we can maintain the campaign and keep the cash coming in."

We are still raising money at Clarets Mad via the 500 Mile Club and also in sponsoring Ben Golby and Paul Warburton who will be walking to the Turf from Lancaster for this Saturday’s game. If you would like to contribute to either of these or would like more information click HERE for the 500 Mile Club and HERE for Ben and Paul’s Walk up for Burnley.

There will also be news very soon on an open meeting to discuss the opportunity to have a Supporters Trust at Burnley.
