Clattenburg is back at the Turf

Clattenburg gave Taylor a miserable night last season when we beat Crystal Palace 1-0, pulling him up at every opportunity when seemingly everyone else was getting away with worse.

He booked Gareth, Tony Grant and two Palace players that night as the Clarets won 1-0 and his only other Burnley game was this season’s 3-0 home defeat against Portsmouth Lee Briscoe was the only Burnley player booked along with four Portsmouth players.

He is not a referee that likes to see the game flow, much preferring to let everyone know he is there by constantly blowing up for just about everything. He has also been reasonably keen to use his yellow card this season with 121 this season in just 31 games and there have also been 5 red cards. The yellow cards have been fairly evenly handed out with 51 to home players and 62 to away players.

Clattenburg, in his third season, is being tipped to become a Premiership referee. His recent form suggests that he is going for it and in eleven of his last fourteen games there have been five cards or more.

Unless he changes his style we can very much expect a stop/start game tomorrow and Gareth Taylor will need to keep out of his way.
