CLARETS WIN, CLARETS WIN, CLARETS WIN...

The Clarets had fallen behind as early as the 8th minute when failure to clear a corner properly presented the ball back to Adam Bolder who fired in powerfully from the edge of the box possibly taking a slight deflection on the way.

That remained the only score at half time and it is a position that, so far this season at least, normally results in a Burnley defeat but not so today.

Glen Little had been dropped to the bench but he came on for Lenny Johnrose allowing the Clarets to revert to their normal 4-4-2 formation and it transformed the game.

Firstly Robbie Blake, who had his best game for Burnley today, wriggled into the box and was clumsily brought down by Chris Riggott. Blake picked himself up and fired the spot kick confidently into the corner.

4 minutes later and Blake was at it again this time evading challenges to fire in a low cross into the six yard box which Warren Barton could only turn into the top corner of his own net.

Playing with some confidence now the Clarets eased out the rest of the game, if anything looking more likely to add to the score rather than concede an equaliser.

The final whistle was met with huge cheers as the Clarets recorded their first win of the season, climbing off the bottom of the table in the process.
