Clarets want to keep Diallo

The Marlon situation has been made pretty clear, the club have offered him a deal until the end of the 2004/05 season but for now Marlon has chosen not to commit himself and has played on month to month contracts, this despite his insistence that he wants to stay at Burnley.

Diallo is just coming to the end of his initial deal and the club are hoping to sort something out before weekend, there will have to be something signed by Friday to allow him to play at Coventry the day after.

Chairman Barry Kilby has said today that he will be meeting with the central defender and his agent and says the club has a number of options to put to them and that includes a long term deal for the Guinea international.

But most importantly the Chairman made it clear that Diallo is wanted at Turf Moor and said, "We are ready to make him an offer but the main thing is that we can confirm we want him to stay beyond the initial one month that he has been with us."

The situation was discussed at this week’s board meeting and one way or another there will have to be news of both players before we take to the field at Highfield Road on Saturday and hopefully that both will have made longer term commitments to Burnley Football Club.
