Clarets want Johnson

Owen Coyle - keen on Middlesbrough's Adam Johnson
The Sunday People's Alan Nixon, a source close to Turf Moor, has suggested Boro would want £5 million for the highly rated left winger whilst Burnley have offered what is a club record of £2 million.

Johnson is out of contract in a year and that could make a difference as Owen Coyle chases a player he tried to bring to Turf Moor in a loan deal in January 2008. Johnson had then just spent the first half of the season with Watford with huge success and was the main target when we looked to bring in a winger at the time.

Now, with the Clarets a division above Middlesbrough, it looks as though we will be testing Middlesbrough's resolve to hang on to their England Under-21 international.
