Clarets want Clarke

The player in question is England Under21 international central defender Peter Clarke who is currently at Blackpool from Everton on a three month loan deal. Negotiations are currently in progress that are likely to keep Clarke at Bloomfield Road for the rest of the season.

Where Clarke will be heading after that is anyone's guess though at the moment and there are suggestions that David Moyes has already done a deal with Bolton boss Sam Allardyce that will see him join the Trotters.

That has been further complicated with the Clarets now watching the player who was not allowed to play against us in the Worthington Cup. Although there is a lack of finance at Turf Moor there is no doubt that life must go on and Stan and his team need to keep looking for players in the hope that the tight reigns on transfers will soon be relaxed.

Clarke has certainly been impressive at Blackpool but an extended loan is the best they can hope for and Steve McMahon has already accepted that a loan to the end of the season is the best he can hope for.

Bolton are favourites but the way he is playing right now could persuade The Haunted One Moyes to keep him at Goodison.

It's good to have a bit of speculation again and it is feasible that we could be interested in Clarke. A move for Huddersfield's Kenny Irons as has been rumoured this week does though seem to be well wide of the mark.
