Clarets to take on Ally's Army

Ally Pickering in his Premiership days with Coventry
We will see a familiar face there too, the Mossley manager is former Burnley full back Ally Pickering who left us in the summer of 1999.

Pickering was only with Burnley for a short time and in fact played just 21 league games for us after making his debut in a 2-0 home defeat against Northampton on the Saturday before Christmas in 1998.

He had joined on a free transfer from Stoke, having previously played for Rotherham and Coventry, and it was at Stoke in a vital game that he scored his only Burnley goal, giving us the lead in the first minute with a screamer from some 25 yards out. We went on to win the game 4-1 and the three points virtually assured us of staying in Division Two.

His last game was, as his first, against Northampton on the last day of the season but he was substituted just after the half hour to be replaced by Brad Maylett.

Having been released he has played for Altrincham, Chesterfield, Chester (then a league club) and Hyde United before taking over at Mossley.

If you are going to Mossley and travelling from Burnley the best route is via the M66 (South) but do not take the M62, this is a pre-M60 route. Carry on along the M60 east bound and exit at junction 23 turning left towards Ashton-under-Lyne. Mossley is well signposted.

On reaching Mossley take a right turn into Chapel Street and then a right into Market Street and the ground is on the left.
