Clarets to sign trialist Woolery

We've been kept up to date on this story through the Tamworth Herald newspaper and the Tamworth manager Dale Belford throughout. He reported that his player was coming to Turf Moor for a trial, that it was being extended and now, just this morning, that a deal is all but done.

Belford has told the newspaper this morning. "We've very close to agreeing something with Burnley. It's in the final stages. The feedback we've had is they would like to take him, but like anything in football, particularly when there's money involved, it's not definite until both parties agree.

"We brought him in last year knowing that we potentially had a player we could develop and move on.

"The situation is we can either amicably agree a fee or it goes to a tribunal. at the moment, everything is above board and amicable, hopefully that remains the case and we see it over the line with both parties heading in the right direction.

"In real terms he is going. If it's not Burnley it'll be somewhere else, there's a number of clubs interested in him. His chosen club would be Burnley, as far as I am concerned, the main thing for Kaiyne is he is happy and he is in control of the situation."

Belford added: "It always gives you a sense of pride when one of your players moves on. You only have to look at a number of players who moved on from us last year, moving on to Football League clubs, and bigger clubs, we must be doing something right.

"But more so with Kaiyne, there is a sense of pride there from my own personal point of view. From the club's perspective, we are the kind of club that doesn't stand in the way and we do like to develop players. We've got a good history of it and Kaiyne just adds to that."

Woolery has been with Burnley throughout the pre-season and, although not named, has played in the development squad's pre-season schedule including the game I saw at Chester when he had little opportunity to impress.

It looks virtually a done deal, certainly as far as Belford is concerned, and if the deal does go through he is likely to join our development squad for the coming season.
