News broke earlier today that Andy Gray is almost certain to join Charlton Athletic and it was clear that Burnley would have someone ready to step in to replace him.

That player now looks to be former Claret Alan Lee who is currently with Ipswich Town. He has netted nine goals in 29 appearances this season for the Tractor Boys and has scored a total of 30 goals for them since he signed from Cardiff just two years ago this week.

Lee initially signed for the Clarets in the summer of 1999 but he was never able to establish himself at Burnley and early in his second season was transferred to Rotherham after an initial loan period.

After Rotherham he played for Cardiff before his move to Ipswich and now looks set for a return to Turf Moor just over six years after he left.
