Clarets to search for a new number two

County parted company with manager Steve Thompson earlier in the week before installing Ian McParland 48 hours later as the new boss, and it is this move that looks to have prompted the move for Kevan, a former player with the Meadow Lane club.

Kevan arrived at Turf Moor in the summer of 2004, one of Cotterill's first appointments alongside Mark Yates just a week after the new manager took over. He'd worked with Steve at Stoke City for a short time and stood in as caretaker manager for a short time at the Britannia Stadium before the appointment of Tony Pulis.

The speculation of a move to Notts County, which initially surfaced in the Nottingham area yesterday, was at first dismissed, but the strong suggestion this morning is that Dave could well be on the move from Turf Moor to take up this role alongside his good friend McParland.

It was January of last year when Mark Yates left to take up the manager's position at his former club Kidderminster and it is looking increasingly likely that Steve will now also lose the second of the coaches he appointed just a week after arriving at Turf Moor.
