Clarets suffer Mee blow

Mee was nothing like his usual self during the second half on Sunday and the club have confirmed today that, despite being able to complete the ninety minutes, he's suffered a medial ligament strain and that he will be out for a number of weeks.

Manager Sean Dyche was disappointed with the news. "It's a blow for Ben and we will have to give the knee a chance to settle down and then fully assess the injury," he said. "We are hoping it will be sooner rather than later, but we are expecting it will be weeks, rather than days."

Mee started the season out of the team and didn't get a league start until the win at Derby County when he came in for Joseph Mills at left back and set up the winning goal for Charlie Austin.

He then secured his place in the side before missing the heavy defeat at Cardiff through suspension with Mills returning for the one game. On his return he was injured in the second game back, the win against Leeds. Danny Lafferty came on as a substitute and then stood in for him for the next two games.

Lafferty is the likely replacement starting on Saturday at Nottingham Forest with Mee not likely to be involved for the rest of the calendar year.
