Clarets squad gets a boost

Gareth Farrelly - cleared to play tonight along with Delroy Facey and Andy Todd
The good news was received yesterday that all three can play and we would like to join Stan in thanking both Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers for allowing them to play.

Andy Todd though does have a toe injury but that is not expected to keep him out whilst Tony Grant has recovered from the illness that forced him off at half time on Saturday.

There has been no news whatsoever on Alan Moore who was suddenly missing from the bench but he is in fact injured and not on his way to Rotherham on loan as was mentioned in at least one national newspaper (is it really a national newspaper?) this morning.

That should mean that Stan will have the same squad to choose from as he did on Saturday although I suspect he could start with the eleven that started the second half with Grant, although fully recovered from his stomach problem, carrying a foot injury.

If Stan does go for Weller then we will line up: Brian Jensen, Dean West, David May, Andy Todd, Mo Camara, Ian Moore, Robbie Blake, Paul Weller, Gareth Farrelly, Luke Chadwick, Delroy Facey. Subs: Lee Roche, Richard Chaplow, Tony Grant, Graham Branch, Matt O’Neill.

Scunthorpe were without their two most experienced players last weekend in Ian Kilford, ex-Wigan, and cartwheel man Peter Beagrie and neither of them have much chance of playing tonight.

Things have got worse for Brian Laws with news that Mark Jackson is definitely out with an ankle injury and Nathan Stanton is also ruled out with a toe injury. Wayne Graves is also struggling with the virus that keeps Kilford out although Beagrie is back in training and could be rushed back because of all the problems.

Spaniard Alex Calvo-Garcia has reported with a tight groin and a late decision will be made as to whether he can play but Laws has added a 17 year-old youngster Russell Penn to his squad and admitted that it would be interesting to see what he can do if he does get onto the pitch.

The Scunthorpe boss also admitted to having some affection for Burnley, "Burnley’s is one of the first results I look for," he said. "I started my career there and I have a lot of affection for the club."

There is no truth in the rumour that one of the Scunthorpe stewards will be hiding in the back of the main stand tonight disguised as John Bond.

Don’t forget, if you cannot get to the game tonight then join Clarets Mad where Ben Slater will be providing our new look live text commentary.
