Clarets sign Adebola

The Adebola link has been a strong one for over a month now since Eric Black announced that he could leave Coventry because he could not win the fans over.

We were first linked with him at the end of 2000 just after signing Ian Moore as Stan looked to change his strike force completely. It all looked set to happen but fell through when the Lagos born striker picked up a serious injury. Shortly afterwards we signed Gareth Taylor.

He never played for Birmingham again but signed for his old boss Trevor Francis at Crystal Palace after a short time at Oldham on loan. Last summer he was on the move again and signed for Coventry with the Clarets again said to be in the running.

Finally today Stan got his man and Adebola, who will wear the number nine shirt, signed on a free transfer until the end of the season.

He came on as a sub against us a couple of weeks ago in our 4-0 defeat at Highfield Road and played his last game for he Sky Blues in their 2-1 defeat at Wigan, again as a substitute, last Saturday.

In total he played in 33 league and cup games for Coventry and scored three goals.

He will go straight into our squad on Saturday where he is expected to start on the bench.
