The Millers have finally decided to sell Lee and the two clubs issued a joint statement this afternoon that read, "Rotherham United have agreed terms to sell Alan Lee to Cardiff City for an initial fee of £850,000. This fee would rise to £1.2 million but is dependent upon appearances and Cardiff City reaching the Premier League."

Lee joined the Clarets in the summer of 1999 from Aston Villa but never established himself as a first team squad member and never really impressed. Just over a year later, and after a successful loan spell, he was sold to Rotherham with Burnley recouping their initial outlay of £150,000 but also inserting a sell on clause of 25%.
