Clarets set to do some more Cherry picking

The rumour mongering started after Spicer, the former Arsenal player, was left out of Bournemouth’s Carling Cup tie at Torquay although at the time the reason given by the club was that he was suffering from a virus.

Supporters believed he was on his way to Burnley and that now looks to be the case with it reported tonight that he has passed a medical and agreed a three year deal with the Clarets which he is expected to complete tomorrow, subject to us agreeing a fee with Bournemouth.

There are suggestions that he has a clause in his contract that will allow him to go for £25,000 although that hasn’t been confirmed.

Spicer moved to Dean Court (or should we say the Fitness First Stadium) in September of last year, just three days before his 21st birthday. It was an initial loan deal that was made permanent in December when they paid the Gunners £10,000 for his services, signing him on an eighteen month deal which is due to finish at the end of this season.

He’s been a regular in the side and made his 50th start for them in their 1-0 defeat at Gillingham last Saturday in what now looks to have been his last appearance for the Cherries.
