Clarets set for first trip to St. Mary's

Southampton's St. Mary's Stadium - we will be playing there for the first time next season

Norwich started the day in the safety position of fourth from bottom but lost that to Southampton who then gave way to Crystal Palace. In the end we will visit all three as a late Charlton goal allowed West Brom to secure that safe position.

It will be our first visit to Southampton in 28 years, our last match there ending in a 3-0 defeat in September 1977. In the return match that season we lost a two goal lead to draw 3-3 in front of the Match of the Day cameras with our goals coming from Steve Kindon (2) and Terry Cochrane.

Hull’s promotion from League One has earmarked us for our first ever visit to their Kingston Communications Stadium whilst Coventry’s successful bid to avoid relegation will see us also play at their brand new Ricoh Stadium.

The results today have added to the travelling with the trips to Norwich, Southampton and the nightmare journey to Palace – we can only hope that it is one of Ipswich and West Ham who win the play offs with anyone but Brentford coming up or there will be far too many early starts next season.
