Blundell Park - venue for our first round win

Twelve Premiership clubs will be involved, those not in European competition, but Burnley cannot be drawn against any of them having qualified for a seeded position in the draw that takes place after tonight's live televised game between Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday at Millmoor.

We needed three of the teams that finished above us last season to be knocked out this week to ensure we were seeded. We got that, and more, with knock outs for Southampton, Preston, Stoke, Colchester, Crystal Palace and Ipswich.

A total of 48 clubs will take part in the second round which will be held the week after next. The qualifiers for the draw are as follows:

Seeded: Aston Villa, Birmingham, Burnley, Cardiff, Charlton, Coventry, Derby, Fulham, Leicester, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Norwich, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Reading, Sheffield United, RK Sunderland, Watford, West Brom, West Ham, Wigan, Wolves.

Unseeded: Blackpool, Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Carlisle, Doncaster, Franchise, Hartlepool, Hereford, Hull, League One Leeds, Leyton Orient, Luton, Morecambe, Northampton, Nottingham Forest, Oldham, Peterborough, Rochdale, Shrewsbury, Southend, Stockport, Swansea, Wrexham.

There are 23 clubs in each of those lists with two further clubs to be added. One of them are Barnsley but they await the result of tonight's game to determine whether they will be seeded or not. If Sheffield Wednesday win they will be added to the seeded list with Barnsley unseeded, but if Rotherham win it will mean Barnsley taking the last seeded position with Rotherham unseeded.
