The news of the draw will be available from noon, and as is usually the case, the draw includes all 72 Football League teams who are split into four groups. They are split geographically north and south whilst half of the clubs will be seeded giving them a guaranteed tie against an unseeded club.

For our opponents we can look to any one of the eighteen teams placed in the unseeded north group, and this is made up of teams who finished last season below half way in League One.

That group includes: Port Vale, Chesterfield, Tranmere, Blackpool, Rotherham, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Grimsby, Lincoln, Darlington, Wrexham, Rochdale, Chester, Mansfield, Macclesfield, Bury, Stockport and Accrington.

The Premiership clubs not involved in any European competition will join the winning 36 clubs in Round Two, whilst those involved in Europe, and that includes Newcastle who are playing in the Intertoto Cup) will be exempt until Round Three.
