Clarets set for Cole

The 36-year-old striker joined the Wearside club in the summer from Portsmouth but he's not been able to command a place in the side and to date has started just four league games and hasn't scored for them.

His last goal came last April when on loan to Birmingham. On that occasion he netted the opening goal in a vital 3-2 win against Wolves at Molineux.

Goals have never really been a problem for Cole, in a career that started at Arsenal in the 80s he's netted no fewer than 223 league goals and 283 in total.
