Clarets seeded in draw

All but Leicester and Millwall from the three Football League divisions will be involved with 38 of them in the northern section and 32 in the southern section.

Half those teams are seeded which will ensure the Clarets are drawn against a team from League One or League Two.

The 35 winners in Round One will go through to be joined by Leicester and the fourteen Premiership clubs not in Europe for the 2nd Round with those clubs in Europe (including Millwall) coming in at the 3rd Round stage. From then it is a straight knock out.

The 1st Round ties will be played in week commencing 23rd August and there will be results on the night with extra time to be played and a penalty shoot out where necessary.

The Clarets will be hoping to get a home draw after having to play away in all three ties last season at Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Wolves.
