Clarets search for win at Layer Road

Chris McCann - could start at left back
Having lost their first two home games of the season they went on to record no fewer than eleven successive home victories. That run came to an end in mid-January when they drew with Leicester and they have now won just one of their last four home games.

Colchester are certainly good at one aspect of the game in which the Clarets struggle, they can get penalties with some ease. It's eight this season, and that puts them in the lead in our division, and most of them do appear to be won by Iwelumo.

Kem Izzet is expected to return for the home side after serving a one match suspension in midweek, when Colchester went down 3-0. There team is expected to be: Dean Gerken, John White, Matthew Mills, Wayne Brown, Chris Barker, Karl Duguid, Kevin Watson, Kem Izzet, Johnnie Jackson, Chris Iwelumo, Jamie Cureton. Subs from: Aidan Davison, Pat Baldwin, Hogan Ephraim, Richard Garcia, Kevin McLeod, Jamie Guy.

For the Clarets I suspect there will not be too many changes but I would not be surprised to see Chris McCann start the game at left back. Jon Harley is having something of a torrid time just now and he was badly at fault when we conceded against Leicester on Tuesday.
Our team could be: Danny Coyne, Wayne Thomas, John McGreal, Steven Caldwell, Chris McCann, Wade Elliott, James O'Connor, Joey Gudjonsson, Kyle Lafferty, Ade Akinbiyi, Andy Gray. Subs from: Michael Duff, Stephen Foster, Garreth O'Connor, Jon Harley, Steve Jones, Eric Djemba-Djemba.

The referee is Carl Boyeson from East Yorkshire, who sent Wayne Thomas off in our Carling Cup tie against Hartlepool.

There will be a report from tomorrow's game at Layer Road after which we hope to resume normal service on Clarets Mad.
