Clarets say no to Kalnins

The 26-year-old, with 19 caps, arrived on Sunday with manager Owen Coyle set to take a look at him in these two games, but he didn't impress in either. He played the first half against Partick Thistle on Monday and last night was involved for the last half hour against St. Johnstone.

Kalnins looked a mile off the pace on Monday and last night, although he did win a couple of headers, didn't in all honesty look anywhere near the quality we should be looking for. There's no problem in bringing in trialists to have a look at them before committing and that's what we've done here.

Coyle has admitted the search for players continues and should he be looking to bring in another striker then the search resumes as Kalnins makes his way back to his club Skonto Riga.
