Clarets pay tribute to Shaun

Supporters were shocked to hear of Shaun’s death last week and today there was a fantastic turn out outside Turf Moor although that was nothing compared to the numbers who attended the funeral service.

Harry Potts Way fell into hushed silence at around 10:30 this morning as the funeral cortege made its way past Turf Moor.

It came to a standstill outside the ground for a few minutes as supporters and staff stood alongside Chairman Barry Kilby and former players Chris Brass and Andy Payton to pay their respects.

The numbers were even greater at the funeral service where they were joined by Stan Ternent and the service had to be delayed as they ensured that everyone was able to get in.

The predominant colours were Claret & Blue, as requested by the family, and it was appropriate for Shaun, Burnley FC had played a major part in his life.

The priest, wearing a Burnley FC badge, brought smiles to faces as he read out some of the messages of support that had been received and related stories of Shaun’s life as a Claret.

There were also tears as we said our goodbyes to a fellow Claret who over the last few years had become such a good friend..

Shaun will be missed by so many of us.
