Clarets match moved to Ebensee

Ebensee - venue for the first match
Because of the awful weather in the region the first game against Wacker Burghausen will now be played in Ebensee rather than Gmunden. The two are not far apart with Ebensee on the southern tip of Lake Traunsee whereas Gmunden is on the northern tip of the lake.

Ebensee is best known for housing one of the concentration camps during World War II, a camp that saw an estimated 20,000 deaths in just eighteen months before it was liberated in 1945.

For those Burnley fans travelling to this match from Salzburg it is believed that it is the same train as Gmunden but one stop further down the line.
The kick off has also been brought forward thirty minutes to 5:30 p.m.

That is also the time of the second match against TSV München 1860 in Freilassing on the Saturday, again brought forward thirty minutes.

It is not the first time the Clarets will have met TSV, we played them in a pre-season friendly in 1966 and were soundly beaten 5-0. We had just finished third in our league whilst TSV were Bundesliga Champions.

Hopefully we will be able to avenge that defeat which came with the likes of O’Neil, Morgan, Lochhead, Irvine and Coates in the Burnley side.
