Clarets make bid for Paterson

Last updated : 18 May 2008 By Tony Scholes
Scunthorpe moved to sign Paterson last summer following the sale of Billy Sharp back to Sheffield United and the failure to keep Jermaine Beckford who had been with them the previous season on loan from Leeds.

Paterson's first league goal for Scunthorpe came against Burnley in their first home game of the season and he's gone on to score a total of thirteen league goals for them in the last season although the goals did dry up as they got closer to the drop and he netted only three times after the Christmas games.

It seemed inevitable that he would move on and Burnley have been showing an interest for some time and it now looks as though we've made a firm bid for him as Owen Coyle looks to strengthen his striking options following Andrew Cole's decision not to return.
