Clarets linked with Constantine

Constantine is out of contract this summer, and should he move on from Vale Park as expected there will be no transfer fee involved. He has already confirmed that he'll be moving on and a number of clubs have been linked with him.

The 29-year-old striker came close to leaving in January when a deal was agreed with Barnsley that would have seen Marc Richards move in the opposite direction. However, Constantine turned down the move and it fell through. Richards though finally made the move to Port Vale this week and Barnsley are believed to be keen on resurrecting their bid for Constantine.

He started his career with Millwall and went on to Brentford, Southend, Peterborough, Torquay and Port Vale along with loan spells at Leyton Orient and Partick Thistle. Since joining Vale he's scored 32 goals in 72 league appearances, and only Billy Sharp scored more in League One last season.

There were rumours of Burnley interest back in January, but that turned out to be Barnsley. Whether this is the same mistake by the same newspaper only time will tell.
