Clarets likely to be unchanged

Neil Wood - returned to Manchester United
Both Dean West and Ian Moore remain on the injured list and it looks as though it is season’s end for both of them. West hasn’t played since the win at Bradford because of an abductor strain whilst Moore was ruled out at Cardiff a couple of weeks ago.

Moore’s injury has been something of a mystery but his dad said today that he has fluid on the knee and wouldn’t be playing against Rotherham.

Although the starting eleven will be the same there will be at least two changes on the subs bench. Neil Wood has now returned to Manchester United after his injury plagued three month loan spell whilst Alan Moore has now left the club and returned to Ireland.

With just a point needed tomorrow to ensure safety I expect the Burnley team to be:

Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, David May, Mark McGregor, Mo Camara, Glen Little, Richard Chaplow, Lenny Johnrose, Paul Weller, Robbie Blake, Graham Branch. Subs from: Nathan Abbey, Luke Chadwick, Dele Adebola, Joel Pilkington, Matt O’Neill, Ryan Townsend.

The Clarets might well need a point but certainly our hosts need points to ensure they won’t have a last day cliff hanger against Walsall. They remain just three points above the Saddlers who will be in action at Crystal Palace.

Ronnie Moore said, “At the moment we are so near yet still so far away from safety and we are just ready to fall over that winning line.

“For me that would be a great achievement for us to survive this season considering the number of teams who have been involved down there and the small number of players I have been able to call upon.”

Moore will be able to name almost a full strength side tomorrow with only two long term casualties Martin McIntosh and Rob Scott unavailable. Loan player Phil Gilchrist missed last week’s draw at Coventry with a knee injury but has been passed fit.

He will select from: Mike Pollitt, Robbie Stockdale, Shaun Barker, Chris Swailes, Scott Minto, Michael Proctor, Jody Morris, John Mullin, Chris Sedgwick, Andy Monkhouse, Richie Barker, Paul Warne, Martin Butler. Subs not used: Gary Montgomery, Julien Baudet, Paul Hurst, Phil Gilchrist.

No matter what the result tomorrow, both sides will be safe if Walsall lose at Crystal Palace.
