Clarets in the cups

Last updated : 24 June 2014 By Tony Scholes

To rectify that, a new section has been added to the site this morning entitled Cup Records which can be found in the More Clarets drop down menu.

It's been launched this morning with the first two pages detailing Burnley's record in the FA Cup since our first appearance in October 1885 and a somewhat forgettable performance and result against Darwen Old Wanderers when we were forced to play a weakened team.

The first page starts with that game and goes through to the 3-1 defeat at Notts County in January 1939 when Bob Brocklebank scored our last pre-World War II FA Cup goal.

The second page covers the post- war period, starting with the two legged defeat to Stoke in 1945/46 right through to last season's 4-3 defeat at Southampton in the third round.

Each game listed shows the round, date, venue, result, goalscorers and attendance (where available) and in the next few weeks there will be new pages for the League Cup, European competitions, Anglo-Scottish Cup, Associate Members Cup, Watney Cup and even the FA Youth Cup.
