Clarets get go ahead for Akinbiyi

News has broken via the local paper this evening that Burnley manager Steve Cotterill was hoping to speak to the player today after the Clarets became the second club to have an offer accepted by the Potteries club.

Last week they allowed Sheffield United to talk to him and Neil Warnock said on Friday that he was close to completing a deal, that would have probably have taken the Blades’ striker count to about twelve.

The deal has certainly not been completed and news has now filtered out from the local media that we are right back in the running alongside Sheffield United with Wigan now having pulled out to chase Birmingham’s Robbie Blake.

There’s been no word from the club, not even the 25p per time text message, so nothing has as yet been confirmed although it is believed that Akinbiyi would prefer a move to Turf Moor rather than Bramall Lane.
