Clarets fans group let down Wimbledon fans

The Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes that Koppel tried to move Wimbledon to for next season
At Saturday's AGM of the National Federation of Football Supporters Clubs (NFFSC) in Scarborough a motion was put to members to boycott any away games against Wimbledon Football Club. This motion was to support the Wimbledon supporters who have lost their club because of the disgraceful decision to allow its owners to move it to Milton Keynes.

This motion was carried almost unanimously, the only group not to say yes being Burnley Football Supporters Club. What a disappointment that was. After Barry Kilby has spoken out so strongly against the Milton Keynes move it is sad to see it was one of our supporters groups that stood out by not supporting the Wimbledon supporters. This site of course will continue to campaign strongly against franchising and will give the Wimbledon Independent Supporters Association (WISA) our full support.

The day after, on the Sunday, was the AGM of the Football Supporters Association (FSA) in Leeds and at this meeting WISA were presented with the Service to Supporters Award for season 2001/02. It is a richly deserved award but I am sure WISA would wish they had never been in such a position to have won it.

The NFFSC and the FSA both voted at their AGMs to merge and this they have now done with the new single organisation called the Football Supporters Federation.

Meanwhile tonight the newly formed club AFC Wimbledon played its first pre-season friendly against Sutton United. Kick off had to be delayed as over 4,000 arrived for the game. They lost 4-0 but the game was a major landmark for supporters who have worked tirelessly to get this club off the ground.
