Clarets fail in Cesar bid

Last updated : 08 June 2008 By Tony Scholes
Cesar had previously played for Dinamo Zagreb and had loans with Croatia Sesvete and Ljubjlana prior to signing for Marseille in 2005.

He spent last season with Championship winners West Brom and played twenty league games for them as they clinched the title. He scored one goal and it is one that will be well remembered by Burnley fans, it was their equaliser against us at the Hawthorns.

He returned to Marseille at the end of the season with Baggies boss Tony Mowbray decided against making the deal permanent following their promotion to the Premier League.

Cesar is expected to leave Marseille but the offer made by the Clarets has, according to tabloid sources, been rejected.
