Clarets draw 'Arry's Pompey Chimes

The game will give Steve Cotterill a chance to pit his wits against his mate Harry Redknapp for the first time, the last time it should have happened Harry did a runner on the day before we got to Southampton.

We couldn't have asked for much more, we've got ourselves a home tie and it is expected that it will be played on Tuesday 25th September.

Cup ties against Portsmouth are not commonplace. We've never met in this particular competition before and only twice have we been paired in the FA Cup. Both times it was in the 1950s. In 1952/53 season a Roy Stephenson goal gave us a 1-1 draw at Fratton Park in the 3rd round with Jimmy McIlroy, Les Shannon and Billy Elliott getting the goals as we won the replay 3-1.

Six years later, in 1958/59, we were drawn against them in the 5th round after beating Blackburn at Ewood Park in Round Four. This time a Jimmy Adamson goal was enough to see us through with a 1-0 win.

Details for the game are likely to be made available early next week.
