Clarets debut for Boyeson

Last updated : 11 April 2004 By Tony Scholes

Boyeson was elevated to the league list at the start of the 2002/03 season and only ventured into the First Division once last season when he oversaw Ipswich’s 3-0 win against Preston.

This season six of his 28 games have been at First Division level although this will also be his first Watford game.

He is somewhat above the average of three yellow cards per match and has handed out a total of 97 with a reasonably fair distribution to home and away players. There have been 46 to home players and 51 to away team players.

The red cards have not been quite so evenly distributed, In his last match he sent off Blackpool’s Danny Coid at Bloomfield Road and he is the only home player amongst the eight he has sent off this season.

I’ve not to my recollection seen this referee in action and so have no idea what style he might adopt. Hopefully he will be as good as Steve Bennett was at Walsall and then we’ll have no complaints at all.

He will be assisted by Gary Wallace (County Durham) and Stuart Wilson (West Yorkshire).
