Clarets confirm Paterson offer

Burnley have confirmed that they will be an initial £1 million for him which will be backed up by a further £300,000 based on appearances, and as reported by Scunthorpe last night they will receive 20% of any future profit should we sell him.

Paterson is now expected at Turf Moor tomorrow for talks but I suspect there will be little delay in agreeing anything and I would expect him to become a Burnley player very early in this coming week if not tomorrow.

Coyle said: "We have agreed a fee with Scunthorpe for Martin who was always a target of ours. Clearly any fee is subject to discussing terms with Martin and his representative."

Paterson has been with Scunthorpe for just a year after Nigel Adkins took him from Stoke last summer following the sale of Billy Sharp to Sheffield United. After turning down two previous offers from Burnley they have accepted this much improved offer after the player handed in a transfer request.

It looks as though Owen Coyle's first Burnley signing is now imminent.
