Clarets confirm Madden trial

The Bohs striker, aged 20, has been with the Clarets for a couple of days this week and showed enough to be invited back in January for a second spell.

"There have been a lot of good players coming out of Ireland and he's a player we've known about for a while," said Brian Laws today.

"We have had a good look at him for a couple of days. We want to keep monitoring him and hopefully try and bring him back in January when he will probably get a game of some description, possibly in the reserves.

"I think that would be the best test for him to see how he is, but he certainly didn't look out of place. He's a young player. I'm not sure he's ready yet but he might be one for the future."

Madden recently made an Under-21 debut for the Republic of Ireland and his club are in a desperate situation financially and the sale of a player would be a huge help to them.
