Claret and Blue for Burnley

Last updated : 06 June 2008 By Tony Scholes
For the first time since the 2000/01 season, when we had very traditional looking kits with no sponsor, the club have opted for a sky blue shirt with claret trim. The trim, as can be seen on the picture, is on the right sleeve and there's also a flash across the top of the shirt. It will be worn with claret shorts and socks, with the shorts carrying a blue trim.

I'm something of a traditionalist when it comes to football kit and I'm not so sure a shirt like this would have been my choice. However, given initial reaction, I'm very much in the minority and I suspect this shirt is going to prove very popular.

There is no indication as yet as to when it will be available but I think it will be earlier than last season when there was something of a rush getting the away kit out ahead of the pre-season trip to Austria.

So, Claret and Blue at home and away with the only other colour being white on the home kit. No gold, and this season the club have reverted to the traditional club badge after last season's kit sported the special badge for the 125th anniversary.
