Edmundson, a former schoolteacher at Blackburn’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, is well known locally because of his broadcasting on Radio Lancashire and as we reported he was then secretary of Lancashire County Cricket Club working alongside their Chief Executive Jim Cumbes.

Since leaving Old Trafford he has been working for his own consultancy and has dealt with local football club Bolton Wanderers as well as Rugby League’s Wigan Warriers and the South African Cricket Team.

He has also been involved with the management of several top international cricketers and these include Graham Thorpe, new Lancashire signing Dominic Cork and Pakistan bowlers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar.

He is now at Turf Moor working for a former team mate, both he and our Chairman Barry Kilby played in the same Great Harwood team in the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

He began at the Turf this morning and said of his appointment, "I'm very honoured to be appointed to this great football club.

"Burnley have a renowned name in football with a proud tradition and a superb, committed fan base. I see no reason why we cannot bring the dream of Premiership football to reality."
