Dave Edmundson - Walking up for Burnley this Wednesday
The Clarets launched the campaign recently in an attempt to improve the walk ups for home games and it means that four people (2 adults and 2 children) will be able to walk up to the Turf for either of the next two home games against Rotherham and Reading for just £20.

Already over 600 tickets have been sold for the Rotherham game and 350 for the Reading game and Dave will be walking up to the Turf himself on Wednesday to highlight just how important it is that we get people back inside the ground.

He will leave Rawtenstall at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning and will walk the ten miles to work at Turf Moor intending to arrive by 9:00 a.m. There are rumours that members of the local media could be joining him.

"It’s only a symbolic gesture but I’m trying to highlight what we need from people in this community on a matchday at home," said the Chief Exec.

He also told a Turf Moor press conference this morning: "This Club is alive and it is going to start to fight back from some very difficult times. We are going to move this Club forward and recreate the heritage.

"This Club is successful and we are going to make it even more successful, but it starts with this impact that hopefully we are trying to get for these games against Rotherham and Reading with the concessionary tickets. I need those people coming out again to this Club.

"I have to try and connect with the supporters, I want people to know that this Football Club is living and breathing but you have to come along with us to bring that success."

He also had a word for the season ticket holders with a promise for them. "This Club has made a lot of mistakes and we have really disillusioned a lot of season ticket holders and I accept that. But I want us to call a truce.

"We will do our utmost over the next few weeks to get a reasonable season ticket offer for our Season Ticket holders. I really will commit to that and I want to get the supporters on board, I want them to feel that we are listening because the thing that I am trying to drive here is that we are a company that is exceeding organisational best."

Alongside the ‘Walk up for Burnley’ campaign will be a new Burnley anthem and it will be performed by Clarets fans and local celebrities Geoff Brown (Safestyle UK TV and Radio adverts) and Stuart Proctor, his close friend and business partner.

The song, which is called ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)’ by ‘The Proclaimers’ has been chosen as the new anthem and has been modified in order to offer relevance and meaning to the Clarets’ cause. The Club hope that the song will be accepted by the supporters and will go some way to improving the atmosphere at Turf Moor.

The new Burnley lyrics for the song are as follows:

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – Turf Moor Reprise!

When I wake up yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who goes along with you
If I get drunk well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who gets drunk next to you
And If I haver yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the man who’s havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the fan who walked 1000 miles
TO BURNLEY AT TURF MOOR!

When I’m working yes I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who’s working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I’ll do
I’ll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who comes homes to you
And if I grow old well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who’s growing old with you
When I’m lonely Yes I know I'm gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan whose lonely without you
When I’m dreaming yes I know I’m gonna dream
Dream about the time when I’m with you

CHORUS

De de de dah! De de de dah!
De de de dah! De de de dah!
De de dun deler dun deler dun der dun der dah
De de de dah! De de de dah!
De de de dah! De de de dah!
De de dun deler dun deler dun der dun der dah

When I’m lonely Yes I know I gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan whose lonely without you
When I’m dreaming yes I know I’m gonna dream
Dream about the time when I’m with you
When I go out yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who goes along with you
When I come home yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the fan who comes back home with you
I’m gonna be the fan whose coming home with you

CHORUS & De De Dah!

CHORUS AGAIN!
