Chappy's a Claret for another four years

The latest natural born Claret was recently linked with a move to Leeds with the club having turned down two offers as Sam Ellis and Gordon Armstrong were working hard to get him to Elland Road.

Barry Kilby said then that he wanted Richard Chaplow to play in the Premiership but he wanted it to be with Burnley and he added that rather than sell him we were trying to extend his contract further.

And that news has come today and will be welcomed by every Claret with the news that Chappy has signed a new four year deal to keep him with the club he supports until 2008 and that is a clear statement to tell the likes of Leeds to stay away, Richard is not for sale.

It’s only just over a year since he made his debut at Norwich as a substitute for the aforementioned Armstrong and last season he went from strength to strength as he became a regular in the side.

He’s very much a crowd favourite now, his performances have assured that, and we can now rest assured that we will see him in a Claret & Blue shirt for some time to come.
